Five years ago, Action Now Institute (ANI) was founded in 2010, as a sister organization to Action Now (AN). Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower residents of Illinois’ low-and moderate-income communities to take a public stance on the issues that affect their neighborhoods, city and state. Some of our wins include:
We led the Raise Chicago Coalition to increase the city's minimum wage. As a result of our hard work, a $13 minimum wage, which includes domestic workers, was established to be implemented over the course of five years.
Between January 2014 and July 2015, ANI engaged 510 homeowners and 211 renters living in properties that were in foreclosure through the Cook County Mediation Program.
In 2014 we registered 19,222 voters and engaged 7,282 people around community issues.
ANI supported the Grow Your Own Teachers program, which combats institutional racism in public schools.
On October 15, 2015, Action Now Institute will celebrate our 5th Anniversary by hosting a Birthday Celebration. It will be a fun-filled event to celebrate this milestone and to acknowledge those who have been with us in the trenches from the beginning.
